After 3.5 years of ministry in New Jersey God has called us onward to His next assignment. I can truly say this time in NJ was a wilderness experience, but praise God for ever more that it wasn't fruitless. God not only worked out incorrect theology and wrong motives in my life, but allowed us to see many people born again and spirit filled. God demonstrated that the power of His mighty SPirit is not confined to the four walls of a denomination or the color of a person's skin. In these years in NJ God has burned a greater heart for evangelism to rescue those who are destined for hell. This wilderness also brought about much training. It was in the confines of NJ that God trained me within the prophetic gifts so that I might be a service to the body of CHrist and not a hinderance. While I may have obtained an associates degree in Biblical studies many years ago absolutely NOTHING can replace God's wilderness school of training. It was here in New Jersey that we have seen some of the most powerful moves of God with undisputed healings, deliverances and a full manifestation of the Spirit. During our time here we were able to established a pentecostal prayer meeting with people in a Presbyterian church. Time was spent with gang members and working in the inner city of Newark & Elizabeth. Bible studies were conducted in the work place where I was employed and God demonstrated that the only limitations for God are the ones we attempt to put on Him by our lack of faith. After God given us wisdom & faith to overcome deadly diseases from the devil. We felt God challenging us to go farther with Him than we have ever gone before. Some may think what could the next step be when you have seen Crohn's healed and God replace 8 inches of colon or complete kidney failure restored to perfect function overnight. There is always more with God. Just because you have seen the gifts operate in your life doesn't mean you have arrived at anything. Too many Christians think that is the end of the race, but miracles, healings and the manifestation of the SPirit is where we should ALL be at. Even after all this I knew God was ready to challenge our faith by something even bigger. For those who don't know I ministered full time & work a full time research position at the largest pharmaceutical company on earth. I spent years obtaining the scientific degrees to have the opportunity to get to that position, but the purpose God had for me in that job was not to be a great scientific researcher. God sent me there because specific neighbors, coworkers needed Jesus. Inner city youth needed to know there is a God who loves them and wants to be a part of there live. God gave me that job so I could demonstrate the power of His Spirit to widows at a prayer meeting in a Presbyterian church. It started small but we have had a dozen pastors, widows and others coming into that prayer meeting. Jesus was touching all of them. Those little grandma's pray with tears and faith. A local AA meeting was taking place next door one night and as one of the young men walked by I caught up with him and He got saved. I am telling you God worked with those oresbyterian grandma's to reach the people the church thought they couldn't.
What is this great Step of Faith?
God was after us trusting Him more. Fod was after us not leaning on our own abilities or job security. The hours with work & ministry are grueling with many days running 14 to 15 hours a day. God gave me a short word 6 months ago that pointed us in the direction of Louisiana. It didn't make since because there are few jobs that are available for specific scientific skill set. We wept and prayed until God spoke about the next step. I began to see all the youth as the next generation coming. I realized if America, the church or us as a people were ever going to make difference the nghange MUST HAPPEN, We have had too many generations wandering in the wilderness. God called us to give up the high paying job with all it's financial security along with it's retirement, health and various benefits to become a high school teacher in Louisiana. This will afford us as a ministry much more time to travel abroad and preach while still maintaining my committment to offering the Gospel free to anyone who ask. The added benefit is that now God gives me an opportunity to speak into teenagers lives and help prevent them from making the mistakes I did. November 26, 2007 was my last day at Merck and I am leaving to a distant land. My wife and little girl are with me and we are going to trust God at every turn because "He will supply all our needs" We believe this is the first of many steps that we see on the horizon of God's plan for our lives.
Future Plans with Holden as our home base
Because teaching teaching has off during summers we will travel nationally & internationally as the opportunity arises. So far it appears India and Mexico are the first two short term trips this summer.
There will be much better methods for contacting us via fax, phone & internet
We will start making some sermons available online or offering them by CD
Discipleship Training Manuals will also be available.
We will be much more available for ministry and to serve the church & community
The opportunity to alk with God and live a life of adventure with God far outweighs the security & comfort of major pharmaceutical companies. We are simply going to believe God for the finances we lack. We are simply going to trust God over every situation. In the worse case scenario I know God has not forgotten the recipe to Manna! We hope our stepping out encourages you to do likewise. We must get over ourselves & agenda and serve the King of Kings!!!
